![]() The Time Traveller: Finally, this futuristic character wants to undo a wrong that could lead to a devastating future. When you get to the Knight's castle in The Cave, this will most certainly be helpful. While he's looking for it, though, he can use his Guardian Angel capability to drop from high ledges - which would normally kill other characters. The Knight: This brave person seeks a soul of immense power. You can use them for cloning abilities, so they can stay in one spot while sending others to activate levers and other items. The Twins: While on the search for their parents, these lads will have no problem getting you through tougher portions of The Cave. The Scientist: Seeking a great discovery to share with all mankind, the Scientist is able to hack consoles scattered throughout the Cave, which will let you into otherwise unreachable areas. It's worth noting that there's only one particular level where you'll take advantage of this ability, though it is very useful. He's a pro when it comes to swimming underwater, as he's able to breathe without running out of oxygen. The Hillbilly: This guy wants to find love, though his fashion sense leaves something to be desired. The Adventurer: In search of treasure and a pair of lost companions, the Adventurer swings across wide crevasses and dangerous pits, as she uses a combination grappling hook/rope. ![]() He can actually use Telekinesis to draw items closer- perfect for those out-of-reach objects. The Monk: On a quest for peace and enlightenment, the Monk isn't afraid to use a Crowbar to get the job done. Here's a quick breakdown for each character and his/her special abilities: You can switch between them at any time with the buttons on the lower left corner of the screen. But look past that and carry on trying to coax a monkey, with a bunch of bananas, into the guidance system of a nuclear missile and you’ll have a fine afternoon's gaming. The game features seven characters and you can select three for your party. ![]() Yes, the command system is a bit shoddy and Double Fine should sort out some sort of patch for that. Ten hours with seven weirdos in a cave – and I count that as time well spent. Steam informs me I've spent ten hours in this game. You can play it co-operatively, of course, but it’s poor judgement by the developers not to have included some sort of 'wait here' or 'follow me' system.īut never mind all that. It all starts to get dizzying and thumb-straining. This means a lot of hopping between your characters, moving them to the correct place, and swapping back. However one of the major failings is that you cannot issue commands to the characters you are not, at that time, directly controlling. Not say, Amnesia dark, but the Scientist character can help launch a nuclear bomb and a futuristic time traveller can wipe out the entire bloodline of her annoying work colleague not to mention the casual (and very enjoyable) story of The Twins which revolves entirely around … patricide.Įvery character follows a similar journey of destruction and mayhem. It’s all standard adventure fare, but with odd Tim Burtonesque twists.Īnd it is dark. The Time Traveller can teleport through slotted walls the Knight is invulnerable at the tap of a button the Monk can telepathically lift up objects (including those sausages) and flick levers with his mind the Adventurer can use her grappling hook to swing over gaps. The strangeness is what draws you in, like filings to a magnet.
